Data Migration
The data migration consists of three steps according to the ETL process: extract,
transform and load. In the first step, the extraction, the data stock was cleaned and
the data to be transferred was filtered. What initially sounds quite simple
had become a time-consuming part of the project because many factors are incorporated
into this process, and besides the article number system was completely renewed.
In the second step the data had to be transferred from the data model of the legacy
system into the data model of the new ERP system. Finally in the third step
the data was loaded into the new system.
In order that every step could be implemented as smoothly as possible we prepared
appropriate templates and developed special software utilities.
EDI Interface
To organize the replenishment process more efficient we extended the B2B
communication with the main supplier by EDI (Electronic Data Interchange).
Also here a product was chosen that integrates itself into the processes of
the ERP software Microsoft Dynamics NAV™, namely the product cc|edi™.
Now the manual and the semi-automatic ordering method is complemented with the
fully automatic EDI release, that is controlled by the daily generated inventory
reports.
